Hello, My names Amariah Thompson.

Welcome and thank you for taking time to pay some interest in getting to know me. I'm a well-established professional photographer from the UK, with an eye for sharp detail and great creativity with photography and videography.

My journey started in the media industry, a young child with dreams of becoming the new style of digital media. I found my self-drawn to videography and wondered how light can take such an effect on a camera, to create amazing light and artistic creativity in one single image. I was a young infant watching the TV screen fascinated with everything in front of me; I was fascinated with the art form and began to create an endless obsession with the world of imagery.

In my teenage years I felt eager to finish what I once was fascinated with and decided to put my creative mind to some use and go for it. My family had cameras around the house because my mother was a music artist in the gene of singing jazz music. I went and practised with the cameras and through time I picked up the skills necessary to be able to use the camera as I wished, with full control of all the functions and exposures.

But practising wasn't enough for me, so I took it further in to studying media on a course at my local education centre, Wolverhampton College. I was placed in classes that would enhance my photography skills, then placed on a movie set supported by The Co-Operative, which invested over £20,000 in creating movies, working with over 200 students on the campus. I was one of the students who was placed in a team, to direct, edit and use the video lighting equipment to create short films with the film crew.

After the course was finished, I continued to make films and photograph people trying different styles of media, yet I was strongly attracted to the art of still photography, I invested in my own equipment working tirelessly taking on part time jobs, to fund my skills, so I could continue my creative passion in photography.

I'd draw up plans and think of creative art pieces, I could create in to a physical art piece for my photography. I then went back to education to finalise my skill set on working with light by training my mind to recognise the difference between different light sources and how it all response with the camera settings dial in my DSLR camera (Digital Single Lens Reflect).

After I finished 1 year of education I decided, I’d take my levels of photography to the best I could by setting up a business in photography and teaching others the art of light, by assisting and teaching university students, while they were on their course practising their skills. I did not attend university because my art work was already university standard work. I already obtained enough knowledge to create outstanding images, because my passion to learn by studying at home and developing myself everyday with real experiences throughout my community.

Photography is an art and I feel it should be much more appreciated in today’s communities and valued more. Becoming a photographer has been a positive turn around in my life and on the path way I've been on, I've effected people’s lives in a positive way by making them smile and admire beauty and creativity which they appreciate deeply.

My ultimate goal is to inspire the people and to make people feel happy to relive their precious memories and have an art piece to view and love.
